Malaysia Airlines (www.malaysiaairlines.com) made headlines back in June 2011 when it barred kids under-12 from flying first class on its Boeing 747s, a ban which was later extended to the upper deck of its economy class in April 2012. Now Malaysia’s national airline has announced a 10kg increase in baggage allowance for passengers of every class. This means you now get 30kg, 40kg and 50kg free baggage allowance in economy, business and first class, respectively—among the highest in the industry. (Emirates allow 30kg, Kingfisher allow 32kg for some long-haul flights.) If you need to carry more, charges start from RM30 (B300) per five kilograms. (That’s cheaper than AirAsia.) This policy doesn’t apply to flights between Kuala Lumpur and Los Angeles, though.
