Not only were rumors that Thailand’s only international-standard racing circuit, Bira Circuit, was going to be turned into a golf club unfounded but we may soon have another world-class circuit. Located in Buriram, the B2 billion project is, of course, the work of former politician Newin Chidchob. The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) and FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) have given the nod to the Buriram International Circuit whose 500-rai plot will feature 16 turns on a 4km-long racing track. Construction is to begin this June and is scheduled for completion in the next 18 months.
