SINGAPORE BAR

Odd One Out

Taking over Outdoors Cafe & Bar is this new cocktail and tapas place

The Emerald Hill drinking stretch down by Orchard has been getting a shake-up, first with the arrival of Black Nut, and now its sister bar Odd One Out, which has taken over the Outdoors Cafe & Bar premises, replacing it with a laidback, contemporary space with high ceilings, an exposed lighting rig made out of refurbished industrial copper pipes and communal wooden tables.

On the drinks front, the usual beer, wine and housepours range from $8-$24. Slightly more interesting is the cocktail menu, with stuff like the Hot Tub Time machine ($18) with gin, vermouth and starfruit extract; and the after-school-sounding Smooth Operator ($18) with whisky, milk, peanut butter jam and creme de cacao. Jumping on the recent tiki cocktail revival, they're also serving stuff like Rombie Revenge ($20) with pineapple and lime juice, lychee pudding, blackberries and Blue Curacao; and the Rumba Punch ($20) featuring blackberrry, pineapple, watermelon juice and Campari.

The food menu is not brief either, with Italian-leaning bar bites like the squid ink arancini spheres ($6); the Cherry and Cheese ($9), ie mozarella cheese balls and cherry tomatoes topped with pesto and balsamic sauce; and the truffle-infused carpaccio crostini ($9). For something more substantial, there's pizza options like the Chorizo Cha Cha ($28), chicken confit ($25) and beer battered fish and chips ($18).
