SINGAPORE BAR

Black Nut

A new, Asian-themed bar on Emerald Hill with vintage touches and local-inspired bar bites

Finally, there's a brand new watering hole along heritage party stretch Emerald Hill, off Orchard. The new contender, Black Nut, is named after buah keluak. Decor-wise, there's a colonialism meets chinoiserie thing going on with dark walls, handsome armchairs, vintage posters and Chinese lanterns.

There's an Asian-inspired bar bites menu, involving things like baby back ribs, Balukoo Wanton (stuffed with ginger, black nut flesh and other goodies) and the signature Asian fried chicken wings, which come in four variations, each with cheeky names--Swicy Hot Chick ($18), sweet & spicy gochujang chili wings, Not A Cock Up (pinnacle vodka infused crispy wings, $20), Har Cheong Kai (canto wings seasoned with shrimp paste, $15), and Soy Lickin Good (ginger-honey-soy glazed wings, $18). You can get all of those as burgers, too, by the way.

Standard drink offerings apply, though they do have some tropical signature cocktails, like the Huat Ah ($22), bacardi white rum, midori melon liqueur, creme de la cassis (blackcurrant) and apple juice, which comes served with fresh pineapple.
