Muanghthong and Chonburi both cruised into the next round of the AFC Cup securing top spots in their respective groups after easy midweek wins. FA Cup winners Chonburi secured an comfortable 3-0 victory over South China of Hong Kong to clinch the Group H title and get the privelege of playing at home in the last 16 round of one-off games. It's a privelege that will be shared by Muangthong United who put indifferent league form behind them to beat Tampines Rovers of Singapore 4-0 and secure top spot in Group G.

Still it's might not be such rosy news off the pitch for the Kirins. This week saw their owner, and boss of mega media business Siam Sport Syndicate, Ravi Lohthong announce that he's looking to sell the club that his money and backing turned from a divison two side into league champions in just a few years.

He cites his reason as a desire to take a step back from the game after achieving his aims of making the club, and the TPL, a runaway success. Yet many pundits feel the timing may really be an attempt to distance himself from under fire FAT president Worawi Makudi who used to own Muangthong and signed a five year deal with Siam Sport to televise TPL games. Only time will tell if the new owner of Muangthong is willing to make the kind of investments that Ravi has.
