SINGAPORE BAR

Shuffle Bistro Bar

Buzz: An unpretentious Mandopop joint with decent pub grub and affordable drinks for discerning bilingual yuppies.

Décor: Eco conscious, lo-fi Scandinavian charm with a welcoming homely vibe oozes from this second floor joint which seats 150. The owners’ (in their late 20s and early 30s) attention to detail is clearly evident in nice little touches like overturned plastic baskets covering the bulbs and well-designed signages. Besides wooden tables and chairs, there are also sleek, comfy lounge styled seats at the back to cater to couples or business associates who would like a quick tête-à-tête over dinner and cocktails.

Food & Drinks: Aside from typical finger food like freshly made 10-inch thin-crust pizzas ($10-12), chicken wings ($10) and fries ($8) there’s also local inspired comfort food including Spam with carrot cake ($12) and Indo mee goreng ($10). As for drinks, expect 11 types of bottled beer including exotic lychee and honeydew brews ($14 each) specially imported from Taiwan and a selection of over 60 cocktails ($12-17).

Music: Live, acoustic sets from a line-up of eight local bands playing a mix of mainly Chinese pop and a sprinkling of current English Top 40.

Crowd: Post-work celebrants, pre-clubbing crew, Mandopop fans and curious tourists.

Why you’ll be back: Good grub, live Chinese music and a chilled out vibe for a lazy evening out after work.
