SINGAPORE BAR

Anti:dote

This swanky new watering hole at Fairmont Singapore is one of the classiest bars we’ve seen to date. We love the ambience here—the decor is sleek and sophisticated, with some unexpected Peranakan touches, such as batik print motifs on the bar counters and floor.  Also, the centerpiece of the bar is a gorgeous, 26,000-piece crystal chandelier that further adds a touch of glamor to the room. The handcrafted cocktails ($23 each) are the stars of the show here, made with the freshest produce from the bar’s own 600 sq. ft. herb garden and combining classic recipes with contemporary finesse. (Incidentally, many of them also seem to share a rather macabre theme, with names such as The Tragedy of Tom Dooley—egg white, lavender syrup, lime juice, aperol, tequila—and Corpse Reviver, which is a mixture of homemade vermouth, lemon juice, gin and homemade orange liqueur). As for nibbles, the menu is a polished one, featuring interesting tapas such as Hokkaido scallop tartar, peanut tofu, parsley oil, chilled tom yum broth ($16). With such stellar ambience, drinks and food, this place is surely the antidote for your office blues.
